United States
Приєднався 28 січ 2009
We love to promote good harp music and the people who write and arrange for that instrument. Toward that end our intention is to showcase harp print music available at our store, Melody's Traditional Music, and from our publishing company, Afghan Press Music for Harp.
Monday Melodies with Terese Weber
Terese is the harpist for Kiran's Indian Restaurant in the heart of Houston. This restaurant receives tremendous accolades from the world over. In this short video, Terese plays Hatikvah from Sylvia Woods' Chanukah Music for All Harps.
This book can be used by all musicians: pianists, harpists, and melody line instruments. Chords are provided. There are two versions of each tune, easy and intermediate. The easier version is on the left side, making it convenient for a flute or violin player to share the music. Chords are very helpful for anyone wishing to improvise over the melody. Melodies are lovely, especially Rock of Ages, which is not the standard one you are used to hearing. Ner Li is also a very beautiful melody. EASY TO INTERMEDIATE, ALL HARPS.
Table of Contents:
Blessings Over the Candles, Chanukah, Chanukah, Chanukah O Chanukah, Hanerot Halalu, Hatikvah, I Have a Little Dreydl, Ma’oz Tsur, Mi Y’Malel, My Dreydl, Ner Li, Rock of Ages, Sevivon, Yodim Atem

Lovely ❤
Beautiful!!!!
Hélas un brouhaha de fond. Unfortunatly much noise behind.
I loved it! Thanks for sharing.
❤️
I'm glad you are doing well after the storm.
beautiful
so beautifully played! Thank you for sharing. I wish there was a version of this book for lever harp
Thank you! These are wonderful, practical ideas that can lead to more beautiful music. I will remember that the "Heart and Soul" progression does not have to sound like "Heart and Soul," and sometimes you have to rip your heart out and throw it on the stage.😉
This is so wonderful. Is there a handout available? Thank you!
Sorry about the delay - the handout link has been added to the description and is available here: folkharp.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/HTG-Improv-Handout-Kim-Robertson-Webinar-June-13-2024.pdf
@Folkharp I'm unable to open the link.
Thank you for this lovely tribute to Karen McGarrett and John Gill, both of whom I will miss always.
Absolutley beautiful and ethereal! Thank you!
How fun it must be to have a group to play harp with. I enjoyed this very much.
VeRY NICE.
Something is wrong with the sound for this video.
I really like this. Thanks for the link.
There was not a great amount of harp music before 1970, but there was a lot, and plenty of beginner books. Maybe not so many in the 1940s. But by the time I studied with Lucile Lawrence, she was a superb teacher, and half of the learning was how to practice, how to listen, how to move, how to make music, how to play expressive with different qualities, how to shape phrases. Considering that Lawrence wrote the superb Method for the Harp, this carping is self-serving and simply NOT TRUE. What is more likely the case is that because of Curcio's thorough background, it didn't seem necessary to tell her how to practice, how to learn. One also learned from doing. It may not have been spoon-fed, but it was TEACHING. Her criticisms are misplaced. And if you speak about methods, before the Salzedo Method was published, there was the thorough Universal Method of Bochsa. And before his, there was Naderman. What there wasn't was a good physical approach to playing. As a result, many teachers developed their own schools. It is only in the 20th century that the Parisian school came to dominate worldwide. That includes Hasselmans, Renie, Grandjany AND Salzedo. That said, Curcio is an excellent teacher and her students play very well. But she is doing a great disservice to her teachers with this diatribe. Even though the tone of what she says is entirely an echo of Lawrence. She exaggerates too much, and doesn't demonstrate.
Do you have a list naming all the products you suggest by name and where to purchase please?
As with many things, the harp began to boom in the 1960s and 70s with the arrival of the massive boomer generation. Harp production increased though it could barely keep up. But at the same time, use of the harp was declining.
Beautiful arrangement and beautiful, sensitive playing. I will get this Dorian book for sure.
Thank you, @lcjusa!
I wasn't sure what to expect after your explanation between the pedal and lever harps description, but this sounded complete and quite beautiful.
♥️ Great !!
Thank you Guillermo! xStephanie
absolutely beautiful playing ❤
Thanks for tuning in, Nicky! (from Stephanie)
I love Zoe's books! One suggestion would be to account for all of us teachers and students who tune our lever harps to Eb.
Wonderful to hear this testimony from Robbin and Mike!!
This was WONDERFUL! I didn't get to watch it live, but I am so glad I got to watch the video on UA-cam. Thank you so much, Laura, for sharing your expertise and artistry, and thank you, Mary, for programming this!
Thank you
